Prayer EmphasisPrayer Basket and Weekly PrayersEvery Sunday a significant amount of the service is devoted to prayers for people's needs. In addition to these public prayers, anyone who wishes private and/or anonymous prayers can place a slip of paper into the prayer basket and a group of dedicated women will pray about that request. Prayer EventsFrom time to time there is a special prayer emphasis on such topics as youth and new graduates, our community, the troops. As with all previous events, members and friends of the church, young and old participate. Review of Austin's National Day of Prayer, Thursday, May 4, 2006Austin's city-wide observance involved about 20 churches in continuous prayer from the Sunday before to Thursday's main celebration. Accompanying the continuous prayer, a number of other prayer events were held, starting on Sunday evening with a city wide rally at the Paramount Theatre with the mayor of Elk River, Stephanie Klinzing, guest speaker. She gave a stirring message telling about their emphasis on praying and caring for the poor and some ways that has been changing their city. A highlight of the evening was the participation of many of the pastors in Austin all united under Christ and committed to His calling. Our congregation had 24 hours of continuous prayer by members and friends of the congregation from Wed, May 3rd at 6am through Thu May 4 at 6am. Other congregations in Austin also conducted continuous prayers with the result there was non-stop prayer for 5 days.
